RockstarVanity (aka Tanya) is a photographer with a fascination for the unconvential and alternative lifestyle.
“Tanya, 27, disturbed and disturbing, experimental photographer, rock’n'roll lifestyle connoisseur, opinionated bitch, digital media whore, married with two cats.”

Her photographic subjects include gothic, rock, fetish, alternative fashion/lifestyle, horror. Her approach is artistic and the passion she has for photography is evident in her work. Tanya makes fetish, horror, fake blood and being bound in chains (to name but a few) fascinating and utterly beautiful.
“I adore the unusual and unconventional and mostly work in the fields of alternative lifestyles/fashion (gothic, rock, metal, industrial, club, psychadelic, body art/modification, fetish, alt pin-up, alt fashion, alt music promotion etc). I don’t work to formulas or shoot insert-genre-here photography. Art has been my passion for as long as I can remember and it’s still the most important thing to me when I’m working. All photography should be artistic and memorable, whether it’s for a magazine cover, a romantic couple portrait or a model’s portfolio.”

Her work is often experimental and she loves to push boundaries both with her commisioned work and her art. She has a superb understanding and passion for lighting which shines through her into her work. It’s quite possible she has pure light flowing through her veins!
Whilst her illness doesn’t define who she is, Tanya has to balance her life, her art and her work with the chronic debilitating illness M.E.
“Having M.E. means I have a very limited amount of energy, and since I work and have to do normal life stuff which generally uses up this limited energy, there’s not much of it left for other things.”

She works as a freelance photographer but has been forced to make difficult decisions and adjust work commitments to fit in with health allowances.
“I’ve finally accepted that I am not, in fact, Wonder Woman and that it’s more important to learn to live with this (deeply inconvenient) illness and work with it rather than to fight against it and run myself into the ground on a regular basis.”

With M.E. this is often not a static measure and the work/art/life/health balance needs frequent adjustment.
But Tanya manages to keep blogging, keep photographing and keep working.
